What to do in case Police stop you

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

There is very useful brochure, titled “Police and your basic rights” that must be highly recommended to download for learning or reminding all rights you have got in case police stop you.

For instance if you would be stooped by someone you should ask for identification first of all. You should say: “Please, show me your Police authority card”. There are few authority cards colors:
red one means that the owner is suspender Police Officer then he has no authority to do anything to you.
Blue color – rank of inspector and above
yellow – bellow the rank of inspector
white – Police reserve
and so on.

Vernon Forrest Was Shot to Death in Atlanta

Monday, July 27th, 2009

It’s reported that a former two-division champion, the first boxer to defeat Shane Mosley, the 38-year-old Vernon Forrest was shot to death in Atlanta in attempted robbery.

According to www.eds-systems.com
Fulton County medical examiner Michele Stauffenberg confirmed that the case was a homicide and that the autopsy showed Forrest died from “multiple gunshot wounds involving the torso and thigh.” Keyes said a police report on the shooting was not immediately available.

Charles Watson, the boxer’s manager, said police and witnesses told him that Forrest had stopped at a gas station to put air in one of his car tires when a man approached asking for money.

“Somehow, Vernon had his wallet out and the guy snatched his wallet and started running,” Watson said. “Vernon pursued after him. The guy turned the corner and Vernon didn’t see him. He turned around to go back to the car. That’s when he started firing.”

Forrest, a native of Augusta, Ga., who lived in Atlanta, was a member of the 1992 Olympic team along with Oscar De La Hoya. The popular fighter later won welterweight and junior-middleweight titles and compiled a professional record of 41-3 with 29 knockouts.

Longtime publicist Kelly Swanson said Forrest was not married and had one son, Vernon Jr.

This is the third high-profile death of a boxing champion in the last month.

Hall of Famer Alexis Arguello, the mayor of Managua, Nicaragua, was found dead at his home on July 1 in an apparent suicide.

Two weeks ago, popular brawler Arturo Gatti was found dead in a condominium at a resort in Brazil. Gatti’s wife remains the prime suspect in that case.

was killed by his wife or it was suicide? According to media reports Brazilian authorities found out that the killer of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti is his wife then accused her Sunday of killing him at a posh seaside tourist resort in Brazil. Gatti, 37, was on his second honeymoon with his wife, Amanda, and their 10-month-old baby when his blood-spattered body was discovered in a seaside resort in Porto de Galinhas.

Police said that 23-year-old Amanda Rodrigues was taken into custody after contradictions in her interrogation and presented a formal accusation against her. Prosecutors will later decide whether she will be charged.

Rodrigues, who denies any involvement in her husband’s death, was the first to find the slain boxer’s body early Saturday inside the vacation apartment they were renting at the Porto de Galinhas resort in northeastern Brazil, police said. The former junior welterweight champion was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found at the scene with blood stains, said Milena Saraiva, a spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state civil police. She told The Associated Press that the Canadian also sustained a head injury.

Woman Was Killed Right in a Dresden Court

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Reported that a 32-year-old woman was killed in a Dresden court on Wednesday after being stabbed by the defendant. Woman’s name is Marwa al-Sherbini, she was the wife of Egyptian academic Elwi Ali Okaz who was also hurt in the incident by police and now is in critical condition in hospital, the state-owned Al-Akhbar reported.

The attacker stabbed Sherbini “shortly before she was to give evidence in an appeal lodged by the man against a conviction for insulting her over wearing the hijab,” Marwa Al-Sherbini died in the courtroom after 18 stabs yes 18 stabs inside the court. Murder (or police?) also stabbed Sherbini’s husband, Elwi Ali Okaz while he was trying to save his wife. And adding further insult to injury, a security guard shot Okaz in the leg because he mistook the husband for the attacker because of his ethnic looks according to German prosecutors.

Police spokesman Thomas Geithner confirmed that the woman was still in the building when she died of her injuries. “The man attacked the woman with a knife in the courtroom,” Geithner said, adding that a policeman had fired a shot in the ensuing struggle.

All the background details are not known yet, but a spokesman for the state prosecutor said that the incident, which occurred shortly before 10:30 am, happened during an appeal hearing in a libel case. The defendant had been convicted and fined for libel last year.

Bettina Garmann, a spokesman for the court, said that there had been no reason to believe that special safety procedures would be necessary for the case.

The incident recalled a similar scene of courtroom violence in the Bavarian town of Landshut in April, when a 60-year-old man shot his sister-in-law before turning the gun on himself, following an inheritance ruling.
Christian Avenarius, the prosecutor in Dresden where the incident took place, said the killer was driven by a deep hatred of Muslims. “It was very clearly a xenophobic attack of a fanatical lone wolf.”

A German government spokesperson condemned the attack and said Berlin “naturally condemns this in the strongest terms.”
